It's the on;y legitimate professional clown training program in north america.
That said, it's better to have some acting trainging before you get here, one or two solid uncommon skills, and the ability and willingness to claw out every bit of benefit you can from the program.
But the program itself has been growing and refining in really wonderful ways in the last three years I have been here, and seems to get stronger every year.
This next coming year there will be a bunch of new performance opportunities opening up for the baby clowns as well, which honestly is the only real way to learn the art.
In front of an audience, everythign else is just technique and public masturbation.

I have had 4 years of intensive theatre training at a private boarding arts school, I'm a busker, a living doll, I dance and sing, tumble, make masks, study commedia dell'arte and I have battle scars on my legs from sad attempts to unicycle.

Does that sound like the kind of baby clown they want?

A very good friend of mine is a graduate and not only did he seem to have a great experience but he has no trouble finding work.

I'm a bay area resident . I haven't attended the full clowning conservatory cirriculum mainly due to the expense of tuition. Yet , fortunately for many of us the clowning conservatory also offers a number of weekend intensive workshops that can be attended by people who are interested in them . I've been to 2 of these thus far, Clowning For Stage & Fundamentals Of Funny . I found them very rewarding.

There is also the juggling night on sundays, for four bucks. that gives you a little look at the space and you can pick up some fun tricks there. There are also alot of fun skill share opportunities in the East Bay search for( East Bay Free Skool.) to find us and we can give you list of others and the fact is there are just tons of performance opportunities in this here part of the world, which as another poster has implied,, the audience will shape you as a clown, the school might teach ya some neat little techniques and may even lead you to a lucrative career in clowning...but will they show you how to create an entire universe out of cardboard survive on nothing but jelly beans. . . no you can only learn that on the road, watch out for traffic!

Hey, all! Thank you so much for the posts, it's all very informative. The update is:

I'm going to the California Institute of the Arts for my Acting BFA. IF, after 1 year, I can't take it any more, I'm going to go full time into clowning. If not, after 4 years, I will look into more circus programs.
I'm going to start clowning on the 3rd street promenade in Santa Monica. For now I'm stuck in So. Cal.... but be warned. I will have my bum up north soon enough!
