Where the worlds of circus and theatre intersect. Creating larger-than-life characters based on our own absurdity and vulnerability: bringing these characters to clown entrees from the European circus tradition. We will incorporate juggling, animal forms, commedia dell’arte and slapstick into theatrical interaction, using our bodies, voices, minds and hearts.
Joan Mankin has performed with A.C.T., Cal Shakes, San Diego Rep, TheatreWorks, Marin Theatre Company, Traveling Jewish Theatre, the Magic Theatre, San Jose Stage, Center Rep and the international production of Black Rider in Los Angeles at the Ahmanson Theatre. She was a company member of S.F. Mime Troupe, the Dell’Arte Players and Pickle Circus. She has taught at S.F. State, A.C.T. Conservatory, U.C. Santa Cruz, Antioch College and the Clown Conservatory of the S.F. Circus Center.
